A shift at my job, on film

Use with: edit-a-short. Resume line when done: Shot and edited a day-in-the-life workplace short — published with employer permission at {url}

Brief

A day-in-the-life short of your part-time job: opening, the rush, the lull, closing. Shot on your phone with your manager's permission and edited to show what the work is like, boredom included. You film and cut it; the agent helps with the shot plan and reviews edits. Honest footage of an ordinary shift holds up better than a highlight reel.

Milestones

  1. Manager's permission secured; the no-film zones written down.
  2. Shot plan for one shift: ten short clips you can grab between tasks.
  3. The shift filmed, without letting the filming eat the shift.
  4. Cut to under two minutes, with timestamps or captions marking the hours.
  5. A pass for faces and screens that should not appear, then published.
