Brief

The handwritten recipe cards in your family are one spill away from gone. Type them up before that happens: one page per dish, the typed recipe next to a photo of the original card. Start with the dish everyone requests and build out from there. The site is done when the cook who wrote the cards has seen it and corrected you.

Personalize

• Whose recipes. A grandparent, a parent, an aunt. Someone whose handwriting is on the cards and who can answer questions about the steps that were never written down.
• The first dish. The one people ask for at every gathering. It goes live first and sets the format for the rest.
• The missing details. Handwritten recipes skip oven temperatures and pan sizes because the writer knew them. Ask, and write the answers into your version.

Milestones

1. One recipe live at a URL, day one, however ugly.
2. Every card photographed or scanned, filed in the repo.
3. Five or more recipes typed up, each with its card image alongside.
4. An index page listing every dish, grouped however the family thinks about them.
5. Readable on a phone in a kitchen: big text, steps you can follow with flour on your hands.
6. The cook reads every page and you fix what they catch. Final README.

Done means

• Live URL responding; recipe pages readable on a phone
• At least 5 recipes, each with typed text and the original card image
• Corrections from the cook recorded in the README
• At least 8 commits across at least 5 distinct days, authored by you
• SESSIONS.md has an entry per session, written by you
