The lessons page
Use with: build-website. Resume line when done: Taught beginner {instrument} lessons booked through a page I built — {n} students
Brief
The instrument you have played for years, offered to beginners: what the first lesson covers, when you are free, and a clip of you playing as the proof. The first lesson is free so nobody has to gamble on an unknown teacher, and so you find out whether you like teaching before anyone pays.
Personalize
- The instrument and the level. Absolute beginners up to their first full songs. Teach the stretch of the path you remember walking; leave advanced students to advanced teachers.
- The clip. You, playing, recorded plainly on a phone. One good take beats an edited montage.
- The lesson plan. What lesson one covers, borrowed from how you were taught, minus the parts that bored you.
- The setting. Your home with a parent around, the student's home with theirs, or a video call. Say which on the page.
Milestones
- Page live on day one: times, setting, contact.
- Clip recorded and embedded.
- Lesson-one plan written out.
- Offer shared by mid-week with the school music teacher and family friends with kids.
- First free lesson taught; what landed and what confused the student logged.
- Final README with your rate for lesson two onward and the reasoning behind it.
Done means
- Live URL with a working clip; readable on a phone
- Honest-claims check passed: years played and level claimed match reality, and the clip is you
- First lesson or inquiry logged in SESSIONS.md, which has an entry per session
- Lessons happen with a parent nearby on both sides, or on a video call parents know about
- Payment from lesson two onward, in person, at the rate on the page
