The lawn and yard one-pager
Use with: build-website. Resume line when done: Launched a neighborhood lawn and yard service — one-page site, printed flyer, {n} customers
Brief
One page that says what yard work you do, which streets you cover, what it costs, and how to text you. The same URL goes on a printed flyer you deliver by hand to houses within walking distance. Money changes hands in person, between you and the neighbor; the site never takes a payment.
Personalize
- The jobs. Only work you have done before with equipment you can use: mowing, raking, weeding, snow shoveling if it snows where you live. If you have never edged a lawn, edging does not go on the page.
- The streets. The ones you can walk to carrying a rake. Name them, so a neighbor two blocks over knows they count.
- The prices. Per job, set by asking one adult who pays for this kind of work what a fair price is. You will be the one sweating, so make sure the number is one you will still be happy with an hour in.
- The contact. A phone number or form your parents have okayed.
Milestones
- Page live at a URL on day one: jobs, streets, prices, contact.
- Prices checked with an adult who has paid for yard work, then adjusted.
- Flyer made with the URL and a QR code, printed at home or the library.
- Flyers delivered by mid-week to at least 20 houses. Tape them to doors; in many places mailboxes are reserved for postal mail.
- First inquiry answered the same day, and logged.
- Final README: what people asked for, what got booked, what you would change.
Done means
- Live URL responding; readable on a phone
- Flyers delivered to at least 20 houses you can walk to
- Honest-claims check passed: every listed job is one you have done, every price is one you will work for
- First customer interaction logged in SESSIONS.md, even if it was only a question
- All money handled by you in person; the site never asks for payment
- SESSIONS.md has an entry per session, written by you
