Brief
Issue one of a newsletter about what your family is up to, gathered by texting and calling relatives, written up by you, and sent to the family. Cousins' news, the garden report, who got the job, the photo of the month. You do the reporting and the writing; the agent helps shape sections and tighten drafts. If a relative replies asking when issue two comes out, it worked.
Personalize
- The roster. List every household you will chase for news. The far-away aunt usually has the best material.
- The sections. Only sections your family can fill: births and wins, the recipe, grandpa's line of the week. Cut anything you would have to pad.
- The delivery. Email list, the family group chat, or printed for the fridge. Pick whatever your family will read.
Milestones
- Section plan and roster written down; a name for the newsletter chosen.
- News gathered: every household texted or called, quotes saved with permission to print them.
- Full draft written by you, about a page.
- Photos in, every name's spelling double-checked.
- Issue one sent to the family, with a copy at a link they can revisit.
Done means
- Issue one is delivered to the family and viewable at a link
- Every item came from a relative you contacted this week
- People are quoted with their okay, and names are spelled right
- The writing is yours throughout
